HyProCure

At South Hill Foot & Ankle Clinic, Dr. Markewych is proud to offer several state-of-the-art foot and ankle treatments for his patients. One of these is HyProCure, and if you have foot pain from fallen arches or flat feet, it could be your best chance to eliminate the pain without requiring an invasive, traditional surgery.

HyProCure is a titanium stent, the approximate size and shape of a small screw. It may not look like much, but this little device has helped tens of thousands of individuals overcome discomfort and even debilitating pain.

In the procedure, the HyProCure stent is inserted into a naturally occurring space between the ankle and heel. Thanks to the unique titanium threading, the soft tissues in your foot quickly adhere to the stent naturally, with no screws or plates necessary.

Once in place, the device instantly realigns and stabilizes your hindfoot, moving your foot, ankle, hips, and knees back into proper alignment. Your weight is rebalanced into a healthy configuration, decreasing pressure on sensitive joints and putting very little pressure on the stent itself. You will also find improved range of motion in your ankle, and may even notice your arch return to a more normal shape.

Laser Treatment for Fungal Toenails

There are other methods of treating cases of toenail fungus, but they have their respective downsides that are not associated with laser treatment. Oral medication is an option, but can come with undesirable side effects. Topical medicine is another one, although it doesn’t take care of fungus residing under the nail. The laser therapy we offer in our office not only has no side effects, it also effectively eradicates the infection under your nails.

When we recommend using laser therapy as treatment for your condition, you can expect a quick, pain-free session. It is a safe practice, as evidenced by the approval from the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) – the regulatory branch of the federal government tasked with the responsibility of ensuring that medical devices will not harm patients. The procedure is safe, but—even better—it is an effective way to restore your nails back to health.

Minimally-Invasive Foot Surgery

There are many simple surgeries that have replaced the need for complex procedures. As they relate to foot and ankle care, these include arthroscopy, HyProCure, endoscopic, tendon debridement, tendon repair, scar tissue removal, bone fusion, and certain toe deformity (hammer, mallet, and claw toes) correction procedures.

In minimally-invasive surgery, Dr. Markewych uses a variety of techniques to operate with less intrusion to the body than would happen with open surgery. In general, it is safer than traditional surgery and allows you to recover faster and heal with less pain and scarring.

Less pain, less injury, shorter surgery time, less scarring, less anesthesia, quicker recovery, and reduced post-operative complications are all benefits of these procedures. Dr. Markewych is experienced and has been able to help many patients by using minimally-invasive surgeries at our Spokane office’s surgical center.

Custom Orthotic Devices

Orthotics are medical, orthopedic devices that are used in conjunction with conservative treatment methods for a variety of different ailments. They are crafted to the unique specifications of a patient’s feet and fit within normal footwear in order to allow the patient to move as he or she normally would. When certain ailments are discovered early on, the use of custom orthotics can even prevent the necessity of surgery later on down the road.

Some conditions orthotics treat include such ailments as plantar fasciitis, hammertoe, neuropathic ulceration, bunions, Morton’s neuroma, limb length deformity, and corns and calluses.
